CommuteShare charges an 18% platform fee, automatically deducted when funds are released from escrow to the driver. There are no subscription fees, no signup costs, and no hidden charges. Passengers pay the agreed price. Drivers receive that amount minus the 18% fee.
Our admin team reviews all submitted documents and typically approves or responds within 24 hours. You'll receive an SMS and email notification the moment your account is approved. Clear, legible document photos speed up the process significantly.
If the driver doesn't show up, you do not release payment from escrow. Contact CommuteShare admin who will investigate. If the driver is found at fault, the full amount in escrow is refunded to your wallet. Repeated no-shows result in account suspension.
Yes! Drivers can post rides as once-off, daily, weekdays only, weekly, monthly, or custom days of the week. Passengers can book individual instances or a recurring series. Each trip instance has its own escrow and payment cycle for fairness.
Drivers must submit: a clear profile photo, a copy of their South African ID or Smart ID, proof of residence (utility bill, bank statement, or municipal account dated within 3 months), plus vehicle documents — a car photo, current license disc, and vehicle registration paper.
CommuteShare is a Progressive Web App (PWA). On Android, tap the browser menu and choose "Add to Home Screen" — it installs and behaves exactly like a native app. On iPhone, open in Safari and tap Share, then "Add to Home Screen". No app store required.
Contact CommuteShare admin with your concern and the booking reference. Our admin team reviews all dispute requests and can remove abusive or inaccurate ratings. False reviews — positive or negative — violate our community guidelines and the submitter faces consequences.
